What is nitfig?
We are a community. Born of the need to keep in touch, and blessed with the technology to do so, we created nitfig.com.
This is a space where a group of friends, family and assorted n’ere-do-wells can congregate, share and express themselves through words and pictures.
The people here do not all know each other, but they all know somebody on the site. That is how they came to be invited. As the site grows, I imagine we will all know each other a little better.
As the community grows, others will be invited to join.
So why “nitfig”?
The answer is a bit lost in the mists of time. I can remember Dad calling my brother, Keir, a “nuppet, snuffnu and a nitfig” when he was a small child. It was affectionate, and I later used the words with Tom and Joe and, more recently, Natalie. We would like this site to be a place where people feel at home, where the stresses of daily life can, if only for a moment, be set aside.
I never knew what “nitfig” actually meant (if anything), only that it represents happy memories.
